Activities Coordinator – Permanent

Tasmanian Health Service – West Coast District Hospital - Lyell House

To be Tasmanian is to value quality over quantity. We create, preserve, and protect the unusual. With quiet confidence, passion, and perseverance, we pursue the extraordinary.

You could be an Activity Coordinator anywhere in the world. But working on the West Coast, you’ll understand the impact you make every day. It’s an exciting and rewarding place to work where you will make a valuable contribution to a small community while enjoying the lifestyle of a rugged and remote landscape. Our remoteness helps drive a culture of invention and human connection, which feels both old-fashioned and like the only future worth pursuing. Here you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to breath-taking coastlines, National Parks or award-winning fresh produce – all right on your doorstep. Whether you love mountain bike riding, bushwalking, or exploring history, the West Coast offers so many amazing experiences.

Our Lyell House Aged Care Home located at the West Coast District Hospital is a place where people from across the caring professions come together to serve our community members in Queenstown and the surrounding areas. Are you passionate about enriching the lives of aged care Residents?

Lyell House is seeking an energetic, creative and engaging personality to join our team as an Activities Coordinator. Focussing on Resident choice and enjoyment, you will develop and implement an engaging Activity and Lifestyle program that respects and celebrates the diverse interests, customs, beliefs, and cultural backgrounds of our Residents, and provide individual support for residents.

The Role:

In this role, you'll have the opportunity to assess and understand each Resident's individual needs and interests, developing a comprehensive activities program that brings joy and fulfillment to their daily lives. You'll create, implement, and evaluate creative activity plans, working closely with care staff and volunteers to ensure the program's success.

Your responsibilities will include assessing each Resident's individual interests and needs, creating tailored activity plans that reflect these insights. You'll document all activities thoroughly, maintaining confidentiality and accurate records. Additionally, you will assist Residents with daily activities such as mobility, toileting, and meals when required, ensuring they receive comprehensive support. You'll work closely with the care team led by the Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) Aged Care to prepare a projected activities calendar that aligns with best practices and meets the diverse needs of our Residents.

At the core of our service is our commitment to the CARE values: Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence. We believe in treating each Resident with kindness and empathy, taking responsibility for the quality of care we provide, honouring the dignity and individuality of every person, and striving for excellence in all that we do. As an Activity Coordinator, you will embody these values, ensuring that all activities are delivered with the highest level of compassion and respect.

We are looking for someone with experience in a similar role within aged care, strong organisational and planning skills, and excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. If you have the passion and skills to make a difference in our Residents' lives, we would love to hear from you.
