Job Description:

The role:

This role will work in conjunction with the current Clinical Nurse Educator of the Medical ward and the Nurse Unit Manager, to establish a collaborative team of staff, and provide a team approach to the management of a 50 bedded medical directorate.

The incumbent will be provided with a collaborative, supported environment and will work closely with the current CNE and NUM to achieve the best outcomes for the patients and staff.

This role will suit candidates with significant clinical expertise in Comprehensive Care Medical Nursing and the management of patients with infectious diseases such as COVID-19. You will have experience in clinical learning and teaching to support nurses at all levels.

The CNE is accountable for applying nursing expertise and contemporary teaching and learning practice to develop and implement evidence-based education programs for nurses in line with the requirements of the Tasmania Health Service North West and the ward.

The team:

The CNE will join a dedicated nursing education team committed to strong partnerships - within the education team and with our clinical units and our education partners, to deliver high quality education and patient outcomes. We are committed to maintaining and extending our clinical competency within our domains of expertise. Our Infectious Diseases ward is linked closely to our Comprehensive Care Medical Ward where our CNEs work with the support of Clinical Facilitators to support the education needs of our nursing teams.

Details of Appointment

Permanent, full time, day worker position working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

Salary: $111,506 - $118,336 pro rata, per annum. Our 11% employer superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:


Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

  1. Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse

Applicants should note the following criteria are highly desirable:

  1. Holds, or has made substantial progress towards, postgraduate qualifications in education and/or clinical teaching and learning
  2. Holds is willing to work towards postgraduate qualifications in the area of clinical/practice speciality as relevant to the position such as Public Health.
