About the Department

SSE Enterprise Contracting is one of the UK's largest Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) contractors with a product/service portfolio ranging from M&E LV, HV, Instrumentation, Street Lighting, Facilities Management through to Combined Heat and Power solutions.

What are the opportunities?

Operating in a dynamic environment, we are currently involved in a range of Mechanical & Electrical projects throughout the UK and thanks to continued expansion we will shortly have new opportunities across our Commercial teams for:

- Commercial Managers

- Senior M&E Quantity surveyors

- M&E Quantity Surveyors

You'll be providing commercial support for specific projects focusing on maintaining and maximising profitability and efficiency.

Main responsibilities will include mitigating risks, contract administration, contract & sub-contract negotiation, ensuring that the internal reports and forecasting of the projects are accurate in respect of risk, costs incurred, costs to complete, contingency and liabilities, variations and claims. This will include working as a team with operational colleagues, constantly challenging and collaborating to deliver the best outcome on a Project.

What will I need?

As a base requirement, you'll be degree qualified (or equivalent) in quantity surveying and will have a demonstrable track record within the M&E building services sector.

You will have a comprehensive commercial understanding of contract price build-ups and proven experience in managing Contractual relationships between clients, customers, sub-contractors and main contractors.

You will have an excellent ability to read and understand contract clauses and documents and be adept at communicating these to all levels within the business.

Attention to detail and ability to challenge and interrogate reports, forecasts, CVRs and cost ledgers will be essential in ensuring accuracy of the reports you are presenting.

You'll have excellent people management skills and be a team player, able to build and develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
