The Northwest Regional Hospital is seeking a dynamic Registered Nurse to work in the Comprehensive Care Medical Unit
The Role:

We are seeking motivated and experienced Registered Nurses to work in the comprehensive care Medical Unit at the North West Regional Hospital (NWRH). We are looking for passionate nurses who deliver the greatest quality of care and will collaborate with members of the multidisciplinary healthcare team for best patient outcomes. It is expected that within the dynamic multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to a strong professional team approach through open communication and a positive supportive environment.
Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager, you will contribute to the health outcomes of your patients through excellence in practice, fostering a learning culture, excellent communication skills and working effectively within a multidisciplinary team. - The team are supportive and expect the values of the unit to be upheld these being Teamwork, Respect, Empathy and Patient Centred Care.

The Ward:
- The Comprehensive Care Medical Unit at Northwest Regional Hospital consists of a 27 bed General Medical Ward, a 15-bed Isolation/ General Medicine Unit and an 8 bed Acute Medical Unit (AMU) for short stay patients. We specialise in providing care to people living with complex medical conditions including acute stroke, palliative care and end of life nursing , sepsis , respiratory and cardiac conditions and acute delirium. The Isolation area provides care for various transmission-based infections including COVID 19.
- Staff will have the opportunity to be rotated through all areas of the Medical Unit.
- Opportunities for ongoing professional development and learning of Comprehensive Care Medical Nursing are available, supported and encouraged to ensure optimal care for patients.
- For nurses who are new to comprehensive care medical nursing, we are introducing a supported, structured program of learning over your first six months incorporating palliative, end of life care, comprehensive care, and nursing care of acute and chronic medical issues for people living chronic conditions- our Comprehensive Care Transition Program.
- For nurses with experience, and further qualifications in medical nursing and/or palliative care nursing, ongoing professional development will be provided.
- Regardless of your stage of career, we have a program for you, and you will be supported in your role by our Clinical Nurse Educators and Clinical Facilitators.
Details of Appointment
Permanent part time, shift-worker position working 64 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

- Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.
Salary: $69,835 - $96,428 pro rata, per annum + 11% superannuation + access to salary packaging
You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Remote and Rural Professional Development Allowance of an additional salary allowance of 4%
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 7.5% based on qualification type
- Professional Development Allowance of up to $500 per annum
- Access to the Grade 4 salary range $90,293 - $96,428 is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4
- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2019
Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:
- Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse

- Conviction checks in the following areas:

- serious drug offences
