The Aged Care Department has multiple registrar positions, including up to 2 Advanced Trainees (for 12 months of core training each). The successful applicants will be working with of a team of junior doctors and Consultants with potential rotations including the Royal Hobart Hospital Acute Older Persons Unit, the Orthogeriatrics liaison service, the RHH Consults service, Jasmine Unit (at the Royal Fagan Centre, focusing on rehabilitation in patients with BPSD) and P1/P3 (multidisciplinary rehabilitation). Preferences for rotations will be discussed between the trainee and Director of Clinical Teaching in Aged Care prior to commencement, considering educational objectives.

The position is suitable for BPT trainees, GP Registrars and those accepted onto an Advanced Training programme in Geriatric Medicine (or as a non-core term for Advanced Trainees in Rehabilitation or Emergency Medicine).

Salary

$97,946 - $138,593 per annum + 11% superannuation + access to salary packaging

  • Salary range is in accordance with Salaried Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2019
  • *Please note that Salaried Medical Practitioners Agreement is currently under negotiation
  • Relocation and commencement support available up to $15,000 for approved appointees

Period of Employment

Fixed term, full time day work (part time hours may be considered), 80 hours per fortnight, commencing 05 February 2024 until 03 February 2025 (24 months negotiable)

Duties

The Registrar is responsible for the day to day management of private & public inpatients/outpatients and provides afterhours emergency cover at the hospital.

Essential Requirements

Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.

  • General or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
  • Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration (where applicable and as determined by individual position requirements).

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:

1. Conviction checks in the following areas:

a) Crimes of Violence

b) Sex Related Offences

c) Serious Drug Offences

d) Crimes involving dishonesty
