Job Description:
Single Employer Model GP Registrars and Rural Generalists
This is an exciting opportunity for GP and Rural Generalist Registrars to participate in the Single Employer Model pilot in Tasmania.
We are looking for people on a GP training pathway with either the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine or the Royal Australian College of General Practice who will be working in Tasmania and are interested in participating in the Single Employer Model pilot.
The Role:
- Wholistic care of patients with support of accredited GP supervisor or hospital supervisor (depending on placement).
- Excellent communication with the patient, their family, carer, and other health care team members.
- Adequate clinical documentation.
- Appropriate referral of patients and liaison with Specialist Medical Staff and multidisciplinary team members regarding patients; this may include stabilisation of patients and organisation of retrieval in emergency situations.
- Where working in a hospital setting, patient admissions, ward rounds and discharge planning.
- Timely correspondence with members of the patient’s care team, and timely response to requests including inpatient review, where working in a hospital setting.

Details of Appointment:
- Multiple Fixed term, full time or part time, day worker positions by agreement with the Tasmanian Health Service and participating practice, commencing from January 2024 for a period of 12 Months
- Multiple Fixed term, full time or part time, shift worker positions by agreement with the Tasmanian Health Service and participating practice, commencing from January 2024 for a period of 12 Months
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant
- Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.
Salary:
$97,946 - $138,593 per annum* + 11% superannuation + access to salary packaging
- Salary range is in accordance with Salaried Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2019
- *A new wages agreement has been agreed and is currently being registered in the Tasmanian Industrial Commission. The new rates apply to this position and are effective from the first full pay period on or after 1 July 2023. Please see Medical Practitioner salary rates | Tasmanian Department of Health for details.
Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:
- General or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia
- Current Working with Children Registration (where applicable and as determined by individual position requirements)

- Current Driver’s Licence (If applicable to allocated role)
