Job Description:
The role:
- Provide consultation and patient review as clinically appropriate when issues are escalated by Nursing staff.
- Effectively triage and coordinate individuals’ clinical needs, liaise with the patient’s normal care team including GP and escalate and refer care as necessary.
- Liaise with internal staff including Social Workers, Community Nursing, hospital staff, the Regional Emergency Response Teams, Emergency Coordination Centres, and other Agencies including Communities Tasmania, Ambulance Tasmania, and Tasmania Police, to assist in the management of individuals in quarantine or mandated self-isolation.
- Coordinate and liaise with individuals and their GP’s, or other service providers as appropriate, when the individual departs from quarantine or isolation.

Details of Appointment
Fixed term full time shift-worker position working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for a period of 12 months.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant
- Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time and casual vacancies.
Salary:
Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1- Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 3 $163,005 - $247,768 per annum, pro rata + 11% superannuation + access to salary packaging.
Please note that access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $234,726 -$247,768 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2 or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award.
- Salary range is in accordance with Salaried Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2019
- A new wages agreement has been agreed and is currently being registered in the Tasmanian Industrial Commission. The new rates apply to this position and are effective from the first full pay period on or after 1 July 2023.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Provision of a fully maintained private plated motor vehicle or motor vehicle allowance of $27,535 per annum, pro rata
- Communication allowance of $1,948 per annum, pro rata
- Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $24,927 per annum, pro rata
- Relocation and commencement support available up to $15,000 for approved appointees.

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

Specialist or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant specialty
*Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.

- Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) or the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM)
