About the Role
The appointee will be employed by the ALIVE National Centre for Mental Health Research Translation administered within The Department of General Practice and Primary Care in the Melbourne Medical School as a Lived-Experience Researcher. The appointee will work as a research fellow or associate on the Neami National Head to Health Implementation Co-Evaluation Project. The appointee will play a key role in the coordination of the project and its meetings, the conduct of research activities such as telephone and in-person interviews, data management and will contribute to data analysis. They will work closely with the Senior Research Fellow Priority Populations, with Centre research staff, and with the project’s Lived-Experience co-evaluation research team.

This role involves travel to project sites nationally as required.

Who We Are Looking For
You will have experience in writing and preparing research outputs, supporting paper development, and familiarity with ethics application preparation and monitoring. You will possess experience in conducting qualitative interviews, analysing and reporting qualitative outcomes, and, ideally, prior experience with universities and mental health service sector partners, community engagement, or research involving Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities.

The Department of General Practice and Primary Care originated as a unit within the Department of Community Medicine in 1977. Our cross-cutting research themes include clinical biostatistics, implementation science, clinical informatics, co-design, and health services research. The Department also has successful research programs in specialised areas in Cancer; Children and Young People’s Health; Clinical Data Informatics, Data Driven Quality Improvement, Integrated Mental Health; Sexual Health, and Abuse and Violence.

The ALIVE National Centre for Mental Health Research Translation is funded for five years (2021-2026) under the National Health and Medical Research Council’s (NHMRC) Special Initiative in Mental Health. The Centre’s Mission is transforming mental health and well-being through primary care and community action. The Centre’s research objectives are to: embed novel preventive life course models; implement models of care that lead to longer, healthier lives in priority populations; and implement Lived-Experience models and leadership. Priority populations in the Centre currently are Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and people who live with severe mental ill-health with unmet physical health needs.
