Youth Mental Health Hospital in the Home
Do you want to make a difference in the lives of young people and their families? Would you like to work in a dynamic multidisciplinary team, providing intensive mental health care within a young person’s home? Then come join our new Youth Mental Health Hospital in the Home (Y-HiTH) service!
The CAMHS Y-HiTH is a new service for the North West region, based in Devonport.
Our aim is to support young people (16–24-year-old) who maybe experiencing an acute episode of mental illness to receive treatment in their home and within the community, rather than being admitted to an inpatient mental health unit, or as part of a discharge plan from hospital.
The Y-HiTH team will work with the young person and their family/significant others to develop an individual treatment plan that supports their recovery. With multiple home visits occurring everyday and additional support via telephone and telehealth, young people will receive comparable treatment from Y-HiTH as they would from an inpatient admission.
The Role:
- Provide a high level of clinical knowledge and skill to ensure clinical standards and policies, protocols, and procedures are met to promote a patient focused model of care, according to best practice principles.
- Act as a role model and deliver intensive home-based care to young people and their families/significant others of the service, which includes comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments, therapeutic engagement, psychoeducation, monitoring and review of mental state and response to treatments, ongoing psychotherapeutic work using arrange of modalities and techniques, within a multidisciplinary team, with focus collaboration with family/significant others.
- Ensure the development and maintenance of effective relationships and communication channels with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, to promote timely and seamless access to specialist services and transfer of care.
- Contribute to service development by assisting and supporting relevant senior staff with the development and review of protocols and guidelines, the development of strategies to meet current priorities, the promotion of an environment conducive to innovation and change and the positive progression of the service.

Details of Appointment:
Permanent, full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

Location:
Devonport, Tasmania
Salary:
$116,616 - $124,147 per annum + 11% superannuation
- Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2022
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Please note that access to salaries beyond $120,908 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme.
Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:
- Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Occupational Board of Australia and Registered with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia; or
- Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Psychology Board of Australia and Registered with the Psychology Board of Australia; or
- Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) and is a full member of AASW or is eligible for membership with the AASW
- Current Driver’s License
- Current Working with Children Registration
Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:
- Holds, or is working towards, relevant tertiary/postgraduate qualifications
- Training in relevant and appropriate therapeutic interventions such as Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- Experience/expertise in child and adolescent mental health and/or Child Development.
