About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Research Data Manager to join our dynamic Human Genome Informatics (HGI) team.
Reporting to the HGI Associate Director, you will participate in a portfolio of collaborative projects and work alongside domain experts to maximise the value of nationally significant data collections. You will also play a key role in the promotion, evaluation and implementation of international data standards within the Australian human genomics community. This includes active participation in national and international efforts towards harmonisation of genomic data management approaches.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Collaborate with health domain experts and data custodians to develop harmonised metadata in structured formats, including data dictionaries, appropriate for data sharing platforms that enable cross collection querying and the identification of virtual cohorts.
- Work closely with technical experts, including software developers, engineers and cloud architects to adapt and configure existing software platforms and develop custom technical solutions to meet user requirements.
- Contribute to the successful delivery of the HGI program of work, including strategic planning, communication outputs, reporting, budgeting, as required.
Who We Are Looking For
You are an experienced Research Data Manager, offering a blend of technical data management expertise and community engagement skills. You will also have demonstrated capability and enthusiasm for learning new technologies and software tools in biomedicine, genomics, and bioinformatics.
You will also have:
- Postgraduate qualification or equivalent working experience in a relevant field (e.g. health informatics, data sharing, data management, applications of genomics, bioinformatics).
- Working experience with best practice standards in research data generation, analysis, storage, sharing, ethics and governance within large scale research programs.
- Knowledge of data management principles, standards and best practices.
- Demonstrated technical skills in transformation, validation and organisation of a variety of standard data formats.
