Job Description:

The Operating Theatre Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU) at North West Regional Hospital has an exciting, permanent opportunity for a Clinical Nurse Educator to join their team.

The role:

The Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) is a part time, permanent role responsible for applying nursing expertise and contemporary teaching and learning practice to implement education programs for nurses that align with the strategic priorities of Hospitals North West, respond to emerging clinical need and facilitates professional development for the nursing workforce. This role offers a great opportunity to focus on your specialty of PACU nursing, and to gain exciting new skills in Simulation. This role will suit candidates with significant experience in PACU and the peri-op environment who are passionate about extending the knowledge and skills of nurses, lending their creativity and expertise to motivate and inspire others, to realise excellent patient outcomes and staff professional development. Candidates must be committed to professional values that contribute to positive, healthy work environments.

The NWRH peri-operative unit has four theatres providing a mix of elective endoscopic, gynae, ENT, orthopaedic, general, and 24-hour emergency and trauma surgery. Excellent patient care is driven through our CARE values, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Excellence.

The Team:

The CNE will join a dedicated team of three Clinical Nurse Educators in the peri-op environment who are committed to strong partnerships - within the education team and with our clinical units, to deliver high quality education. We are committed to maintaining clinical competency within our domain of expertise, working with effectiveness and ongoing evaluation, and being accountable in both our leadership and our followership to achieve excellent team performance. Be part of an exciting project being run at our hospitals to embed simulation training in the peri-op environment.

Details of Appointment

Permanent, part time, day worker position working 38 hours per fortnight commencing early December.

*notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant

Salary:

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

Base Salary: $104,735 - $111,334 pro rata, per annum

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

  1. Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  1. Holds, or is currently working towards, postgraduate qualifications in education and/or clinical teaching and learning
  2. Holds, or is currently working towards, postgraduate qualifications in the area of clinical/practice speciality as relevant to the position
