Job Description:

Administrative Duties
Assist with the following: (a) volunteer enrollment and screening requirements; (b) club management and charter status; (c) registration and enrollment of 4-H program participants. Update and disseminate 4-H correspondences and reports. Update and properly maintain 4-H club and individual membership documents, program participation records, group enrollments and financial transactions/records. Prepare monthly and yearly reports as required, including but not limited to reports associated with Affirmative Action, ES 237 and UF Revenue Enhancement (182) budget. Provide monthly contact records to 4-H Youth Development Agent for state reporting requirements.

Program Delivery
Plan, organize, schedule and conduct a variety of program activities and events. Prepare and distribute 4-H marketing materials (e.g., print materials, visual aids, or power point presentation) and update 4-H website. Attend local, district, and state activities and events in place of the 4-H Youth Development Agent. Help maintain existing members, volunteer, and recruit new members and volunteers making all reasonable efforts to meet Affirmative Action Compliance Standards and University of Florida’s Youth Protection Policy.

Travel
Travels according to the UF/IFAS Extension Florida 4-H Youth Protection Policy. Travel includes taking youth to county, district and state events.

Training
Develops and improves knowledge of 4-H youth development subject matter, becomes more proficient in determining clientele needs, understands various methods of reaching and teaching clientele, and develops proficiency in using 4-H youth development materials via participation in orientation training, continuous on-the-job training and self-study.

Other Duties
Performs other duties as assigned by 4-H Agent, CED and Office Manager

Supervision

Verbal and written instructions for training purposes, program delivery, and procedural forms. Additional instructions on an as-needed basis. Must be able to work independently and in a team. This position reports directly to the 4-H Agent. The County Extension Director and Office Manager supervises this position indirectly.

Normal Work Schedule

Typical schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. However, this position will require irregular work hours after 4:30 PM or weekends as requested by the immediate supervisor.

Expected Salary:

$15.80 hourly

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Valid Florida driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, to include accuracy; attention to detail; creative writing and ability to write correspondence, publications, and press releases as required.
  • Strong organizational, time-management skills and ability to handle multiple projects at the same time.
  • Ability to work with and instruct youth through innovative and non-formal methods.
  • Experience working with diverse youth and adult audiences.
  • Ability to interact with the public in a positive and effective manner to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Skill in planning a variety of programs for the target audiences.
  • Knowledge of records and finance management principles.
  • Skill in the use of standard office equipment and computer software applications/ equipment.
