Job Description:

The University of Florida College of Nursing is currently seeking a Data Management Analyst II who is able to demonstrate a depth of knowledge and skills in the successful development, testing, and deployment of a variety of nursing relevant electronic applications. The knowledge and skills of a nursing research software engineer include 1) database and user interface design; 2) programming; 3) application and user testing; 4) deployment through a variety of platforms (e.g., web and other); 5) ability to integrate components with larger systems (e.g., electronic health record); and 5) excellent communication skills in assessing the nurse user needs.

Responsibilities include:

  • Design, build, and maintain electronic applications supportive of nursing practice and research for the College of Nursing. The analyst will work closely with nurse clinicians and nurse researchers to ensure that applications work efficiently and effectively for the intended purposes under real time conditions and if needed, interface seamlessly with larger electronic systems.
  • Develop and validate test routines and schedules to ensure that test cases mimic external interfaces and address all browser and device types.
  • Tracks progress through project management software and maintains appropriate documentation on all aspects of the applications/systems developed. Maintain an understanding of the latest software development practices through professional education and participation in conferences and workshops. Data management and extraction
  • Facilitates and monitors time-efficient software review and approval through the University of Florida’s privacy and security processes.
  • Communicates with nurse researchers and clinicians to achieve project aims are achieved on time and within budget.
Expected Salary:

Salary commensurate with education and experience

Minimum Requirements:

Master’s degree in an appropriate area; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

EDUCATION & TRAINING:

Master’s Degree in Computer Science

EXPERIENCE:

Experience developing, testing and deploying nursing related applications for practice and research that meet privacy and security requirements of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.

Experience interfacing nursing applications with electronic health records.

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Server architecture
  • Experience with server-side framework such as python, ruby, php, Java, ASP, ASP.NET
  • Proficient in JavaScript, CSS, HTML
  • Experience in MS SQL database systems
  • Understanding of UI, cross-browser compatibility, general web functions and standards
  • Application and user testing

SKILLS:

Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal relationship skills.

ABILITIES:

Ability to integrate components with larger systems (e.g., electronic health record)
