Risk Management Lead
Work Location:
Port Hedland, WA. Fortescue’s Hedland Operations are located on the traditional lands of the Kariyarra people.
Or
Perth, WA. Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk Noongar people.
Roster:
Monday to Friday with regular travel to Port Hedland required on a fortnightly basis ( 2 or more nights)
This role will be responsible for the overall development and coordination of the program of works risk profile and ensuring appropriate actions and accountable persons are identified.
The Specialist will ensure that the organization is in compliance with safety regulations, identify potential risks, and develop measures to mitigate these risks. This position will report directly to the senior management team and will be responsible for maintaining a safe and healthy work environment for all employees.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and implement risk management programs to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and industry standards.
- Identify potential hazards and develop measures to mitigate these risks.
- Conduct audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and develop strategies to mitigate those risks.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of risk management programs and make recommendations for improvements.
- Develop and deliver risk and safety training programs to employees and managers.
- Investigate incidents, injuries, and accidents to determine the root cause and develop recommendations for prevention.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure that policies and procedures are integrated into daily operations.
- Collaborate with risk and assurance team and/or insurance providers to manage claims and reduce risks associated with liability.
- Maintain accurate records of incidents, investigations, and training.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in occupational safety and health, risk management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a safety or risk management role.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and industry standards.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to identify potential hazards and develop risk mitigation strategies.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other departments and stakeholders.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
- Ability to obtain relevant safety certifications, as required.
