Lead Project Controller
Work Location:
Port Hedland, WA. Fortescue’s Hedland Operations are located on the traditional lands of the Kariyarra people.
OR
Perth, WA. Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk Noongar people.
Roster:
Perth based Monday to Friday with regular site travel or residential Port Hedland.
This will be a key role to deliver effective project controls through supporting the program of works applying a consistent approach aligned with the project lifecycle and stakeholder requirements.
Key responsibilities include:

- Maintain stable reporting tools linking Scope, Cost and Schedule that can respond to management requests on project updates and support decision making for the PM's.
- Ensure the Change Management process is maintained and that risks and mitigation plans are communicated to area managers.
- Ensure correct application of project governance, and maintaining process, within project controls.
- Advisor to project managers to ensure cashflow and schedule forecasting meets deadlines and accuracy requirements.
- Deliver effective planning on projects, record and analyse progress and trends providing appropriate advice to key project personnel.
- Implement a consistent schedule methodology in line with Project Lifecycle
- Lead program level schedule development and reviews for Managers.
- Facilitate and communicate the Change Management process to enable early identification and communication of risks and mitigation plans to the project delivery team.
- Be the lead spokesperson for project schedules on projects within program of works.
- Accurate fortnightly report templates and data to be issued to project managers
- Ensure current business process is followed by advising project managers on process related to DCRM. Ensure alignment between Anaplan and DCRM.
- Assist in the process supporting the Annual and Quarterly Budget Sessions for CAPEX.
- Responsible for project controls function adherence to project controls systems and delivery of:
- Schedule - Prepare, maintain and Review program and project level planning for Program of work. Highlight risks and opportunities to the PM’s and Management
- Cost - Ensure cost aligns with schedule. All costs are managed and reconciled by the cost/finance team
Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree qualified (bachelor’s degree in Engineering or bachelor’s degree in Commerce/Finance and Project Management) or internationally accredited project controls certification
- At least 10 years project cost control experience at a senior level within a resources environment, preferably including international elements or interfaces
- Demonstrated experience establishing, managing and reporting the cost components of large-scale, complex capital projects; including developing and managing a progress reporting methodology for a complicated design effort
- Experience leading and developing project control team
- Sound understanding of project control processes and techniques including methods for transitioning from study estimate to project budget , project cost and cash flow forecasting and analysis.
- Exposure to full project life cycle, from concept through to execution, and the associated gate movements
- Demonstrated proficiency and knowledge regarding project cost control systems, finance systems and reporting applications, database management and administration
- Strong communication skills, ability to interface with project and corporate stakeholders
- High level of computer skill with advanced Microsoft Excel, Word and MS Office package abilities
- Flexibility to engage with teams from different geographic region
