Job Description:

Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Clinical and Translational Science Informatics and Technology (CTSIT), the candidate will work closely with customers, business analysts and team members to understand business requirements that drive the analysis and design to develop quality technical solutions and analytical reporting. The candidate will have a solid understanding of data management, IT systems, development lifecycle, quality assurance/testing, and integration methodologies around data management solutions.

Data Management

The candidate will assist with recommendations towards the development of new code/data/reports or reuse/enhancement of existing data. The candidate will assist with data maintenance on customer data sets. This will include data maintenance, cleaning and performance optimization. The candidate should expect to work with systems such as MS SQL Server, MySQL, and/or Oracle. The candidate may be required to work with semantic query language, semantic data stores, and the databases that support them.

The candidate will develop and execute analytics solutions and data cleaning solutions according to the client's needs using the programming language R. Build data processing systems in collaboration with a team. Write efficient, high-quality code for advanced data analysis, cleaning, manipulation, and modeling. The candidate will be using R programming to create automated reporting for clients.

Develops Software

The candidate will develop data-driven health and medical related software and systems. The candidate will assist and define system scope and objectives through research and fact-finding to develop or modify complex information systems. The candidate will prepare specifications from which programs will be written. The candidate will assist with recommendations towards the development of new code/data/reports or reuse/enhancement of existing. The candidate will assess design options, design technical requirements for applications, identify and analyze problems, test and debug code. The candidate must be able to collaborate and interact with fellow team members. They must be able to present their work before team members in biweekly meetings.

A typical day will include regular team meetings, develop or update existing workflows, meetings with clients, code review, writing documentation for existing or updated processes, and updating and reviewing working task issues in a Jira ticket system. Each day will vary with the type of work that will be assigned.

Manages Systems, Applications, Server Management and Issue Solving

The candidate will apply security methodologies in management of systems. The candidate will design, develop, test, and document systems with minimal guidance from the supervisor or project manager. The candidate will use source control management and configuration management tools to document and standardize systems management. The candidate will troubleshoot applications, maintain installed systems, produce and maintain documentation, and conduct application quality assurance. The candidate will assist with software integration, external interface development and technical documentation. Utilize knowledge of Linux systems to manage servers and resolve any issues that may arise.

Commensurate with education and experience

Minimum Requirements:

Associate's degree; or a high school diploma or equivalent and two years of relevant experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

One year of professional experience in software development, familiarity with R, Python, and JavaScript frameworks and experience with at least one source control system.

Ability to work within Linux or Mac operating systems

Ability to plan, test, and execute software and system deployment and upgrades

Excellent communication skills, with both technical and non-technical audiences

Ability to work as part of a technical team, collaborating and sharing work

Willingness to do the work necessary to meet deadlines

Experience with newer technologies such as SPARQL, Semantic Data stores, and NoSQL.

Experience working within a development team.

Experience with R Studio and R packages such as `tidyverse`.
