The role:

Within a Primary Health Care Framework, Agency policies, legal requirements and professional competencies, the Clinical Nurse Consultant - Sexual Health will:

• Provide professional advanced clinical leadership and expertise in the provision of clinical advice, assessment and interventions based on best practice in the health care management of Sexual Health Services clients within the defined community practice area.
• Undertake a broad consultative role by initiating and maintaining a comprehensive network with community and support groups, professional associates and developing professional collaborative linkages with other health professionals across the acute and community sectors, working as part of the multidisciplinary community health team and in close collaboration with clients, General Practitioners (GP) and Specialists.
• Implement evidence-based practices through teaching, research, policy and protocol development and through direct example within the practice setting.

The Statewide Sexual Health Service is seeking a permanent Clinical Nurse Consultant - Sexual Health to provide professional advanced clinical leadership and expertise in the provision of clinical advice, assessment and interventions based on best practice in the health care management of Sexual Health Services clients within the defined community practice area. This position will be based at Clinic 34, 34 Howick Street, Launceston with an outreach clinic to Devonport, commencing July 2023

Our clinical services primarily involve the assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of sexually transmissible infections, sexual functioning, conditions impacting upon sexuality and gender diversity, care and management of HIV and treatment and cure of Hepatitis C. We provide a multidisciplinary transgender service including information, support and medical assistance and guidance.

Details of Appointment

Permanent, full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing July 2023

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant

Salary:

$104,735 - $111,334 per annum. Our Employer 10.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

• Post Graduate Allowance of up to 7.5% based on qualification type
• Professional Development Allowance of up to $500 per annum
• Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Award

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

• Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

• Holds, or is working towards, a relevant tertiary qualification in Sexual Health Nursing
• Current Driver’s Licence

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:

1. Conviction checks in the following areas:

• crimes of violence
• sex related offences
• serious drug offences
• crimes involving dishonesty

3. Disciplinary action in previous employment check.
