Veterinary Technician for Interventional Radiology and Surgery<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

The primary role of the technician is to support the hospital by assisting services in the Cath lab and ensure the room is in working order. The individual will assist with surgical procedures as needed and ensure all tasks are completed for cases. When there are no Cath lab cases, the individual will assist the OR's with cases. They will assist other services to ensure cases are on time and the schedule is not delayed. The person also will bring in the area a positive \u201ccan do\u201d attitude and help all areas to ensure the cases are complete in a timely fashion. The expectation is that the individual will communicate effectively with services to determine needs and priorities for the day, display a positive and proactive attitude while also knowing when to ask for help or guidance when needed. Patients should be handled compassionately with the goal to prevent and alleviate fear, anxiety, and stress during their visit.
Examples of this include but not limited to the following:
\u2022 Assist with radiography and fluoroscopy for OR and Cath Lab procedures
\u2022 Assist with all Cath lab procedures during regular business hours
\u2022 Assist with Cath lab inventory
\u2022 Safely administer sedation as needed following protocols and veterinarian\u2019s orders while continuing to monitor patients while under your care.
\u2022 Able to provide appropriate and safe monitoring to a patient under sedation
\u2022 Maintain yearly training in CPR
\u2022 Demonstrate the knowledge and use of ALARA in regards to radiation safety.
\u2022 Able to proficiently obtain acceptable images
\u2022 Documenting in electronic medical records
\u2022 Reviewing and entering patient charges appropriately
\u2022 Performs surgical nursing care functions on patients such as surgical preparation, aseptic technique, and pre-surgical treatments.
\u2022 Ensure patents are prepped in a timely fashion to keep the schedule on time.
\u2022 Assembles surgical supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures.
\u2022 Prepares surgical instrument table.
\u2022 Maintains aseptic techniques and actively monitors situations which could lead to breaches in aseptic technique.
\u2022 Assist anesthesia and services by properly restraining patients, setting up or breaking down equipment or supplies, or assisting in transporting patients throughout hospital.
\u2022 Properly package and wrap instruments in accordance with hospital specifications
\u2022 Ensure charges are entered at point of care and are accurate
\u2022 Prepare and submit samples for diagnostics<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

$18 to $25, salary based on credentials and experience<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Veterinary Technician I: High school diploma or equivalent and one year of relevant experience
Veterinary Technician II: Credentialed veterinary technician<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Graduate from an accredited American Veterinary Medical Association program for veterinary technology\u202fOR American Registered Radiologic Technologist.<\/p>\n
