Project Manager

Creating a brighter future for life in the Tropics and beyond, through education and research that makes a difference locally, and globally, James Cook University (JCU) is looking to appoint a Project Manager.<\/strong> This is a full time, two (2) year fixed term opportunity<\/strong> that can either be based at the Cairns Nguma-bada campus or Bebegu Yumba campus in Townsville.<\/strong> An attractive remuneration package of up to $140,000 per annum (negotiable) i<\/strong>s on offer, inclusive of 17% employer superannuation contributions and annual leave loading.<\/p>\r\n

WHAT YOU CAN ACCOMPLISH IN THE ROLE <\/strong><\/p>\r\n

Delivering capital projects in support of the University\u2019s strategic plan, you\u2019ll be responsible for the planning and implementation of new complex building projects, extensions, refurbishments and infrastructure upgrades both on campus and at off-site locations of the University across JCU\u2019s large geographical footprint. Working closely with the Manager, Capital Projects, you\u2019ll resolve project related issues and provide day-to-day supervision of consultants and contractors working on projects as required.<\/p>

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE <\/strong><\/p>\r\n

As an experienced and professional project manager, you are committed to delivering high-quality, best practice and compliant outcomes in accordance with legislation, regulation, codes and standards. You are accustomed to negotiating with a variety of stakeholders including contractors, consultants and suppliers to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget and to meet requirements.

You are a proven communicator with sound negotiation and problem-solving skills with an eye for detail and an interest in emerging technologies for sustainable buildings. You are comfortable working in a large, complex organisational settings, balancing multiple priorities and timeframes.

Whilst not mandatory, it would be advantageous to be familiar with a variety of construction contract delivery models including managing contractor arrangements.
