The Role:
  • Provide Pathology Services of the highest possible standard to patients.

The Team:

  • The Northern Tasmanian Pathology Service (NTPS) is a busy regional laboratory providing a broad range of diagnostic services to the Launceston General Hospital (LGH) in Northern Tasmania.
  • Led by a team of Pathologists, the NTPS provides services across the major laboratory disciplines, Haematology, Transfusion, Biochemistry, Anatomical Pathology and Microbiology, in a well-staffed, modern and well-resourced facility operating 24/7.
  • The LGH is a mid-size regional hospital covering Emergency Care, Intensive Care, Oncology, Obstetric, Surgical and mental health services set in the beautiful Tamar Valley, and home to a number of excellent vineyards, dining establishments, gourmet food producers and farmers' markets.

Details of Appointment

Multiple, Permanent, full time, day work, position working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible

Salary:

Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1- Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 3 $163,005 - $247,768 per annum

Please note that access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $234,726 -$247,768 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2 or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Provision of a fully maintained private plated motor vehicle or motor vehicle allowance of $25,758 per annum
  • Communication allowance of $1948 per annum
  • Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $24,927 per annum
  • Attractive Salary Package, including On Call Allowance and Call Back
  • Election to participate in the Private Patient Plan
  • Negotiable salary including superannuation and access to salary packaging
  • Relocation and accommodation assistance
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development, including conference and sabbatical leave, in additional to annual leave entitlements

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

  1. Specialist or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant specialty

*Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.

  1. Experience in Cytopathology and Post Mortem procedures

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:

    1. crimes of violence
    2. sex related offences
    3. serious drug offences
    4. crimes involving dishonesty
