Track Principal Engineer
Work Location: Port Hedland, WA. Fortescue’s Hedland Operations are located on the traditional lands of the Kariyarra people
Roster: 8:6/4:3 - residential or FIFO ex Perth
Reporting to the Rail Network Maintenance Manager you will be responsible for ensuring Fortescue's Track infrastructure is well maintained by ensuring planned and unplanned maintenance activities are carried out safely, enabling a high availability of the track to the supply chain whilst minimising delays due to maintenance delays, faults or speed restrictions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Contribute to site and department budget management, programs and improvements ensuring cost effective maintenance
- Develop and implement best engineering practices
- Work with the planning teams to ensure timely delivery of scheduled and unscheduled planned maintenance with work management practices, utilising Asset management tools and techniques
- Develop robust Scope of Works for all major track maintenance and refurbishment works
- Model positive safety behaviours by promptly reporting safety hazards and incidents
- Regularly review maintenance procedures and make recommendations for improvement to Supervisor and team leaders
- Coach and share knowledge with others in areas of expertise
- Safety focus from design to work execution methods
Qualifications and Experience:
- Professional Civil Engineer registerable with Engineers Australia as chartered
- More than 5 years of rail experience
- Proven experienced in Railway Track maintenance renewals and maintenance
- Understanding of heavy haul railway conditions and remediation’s
- Sound understanding of contractor management
- Strong reporting skills and a high level of computer literacy (SAP experience desirable)
- Experience within the resources sector is desirable
