About the Role
Working in a dynamic team, under the supervision of Professor Malcolm McConville (Bio21 Institute) and A/Prof Chris Tonkin (WEHI) the Research Officer will utilize genome-wide genetic screens and advanced biochemical approaches, including metabolomic/proteomic approaches, to define the metabolic signals that trigger parasite entry into and exit from latency, with the view of identifying new drug targets against latent toxoplasmosis.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Undertake independent research that supports the NIH-funded program in the McConville/Tonkin groups.
- Work collaboratively with other members of the McConville/Tonkin groups to advance the program.
- Preparation of manuscripts and oral presentations as well as co-supervision of research students.
Who We Are Looking For
You will be a highly motivated, problem-solver committed to achieving scientific goals, who can work autonomously and be expected to be an active member of the research group, collaborating with other researchers.
You will also have:
- PhD (or close to submission) in relevant area.
- Experience with molecular parasitology and/or biological mass spectrometry (metabolomics/proteomics) and computational biology.
- Experience in broad range of biochemistry techniques (protein expression, purification, enzymology).
