About the Role
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Cultural Strategic Lead to work with the Biodiversity Council and contribute to a critical area of focus in the development and implementation of the First Peoples Policy and Engagement Strategy. As a member of the Executive Team, you will have the opportunity to engage and partner with First Peoples communities and agencies, ensuring the effective integration of their aspirations and knowledge into the Biodiversity Council's work. Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing and implementing the Biodiversity Council's First Peoples Policy and Engagement Strategy, in consultation with internal and external stakeholders
- Engaging and partnering with First Peoples communities and agencies to ensure the effective integration of First Peoples' aspirations, knowledge and outcomes into the Biodiversity Council's work
- Advising the Executive Team and Council on First Peoples policy priorities in biodiversity and on Country, and on emerging issues and opportunities
- Monitoring, evaluating and reporting on the progress and outcomes of First Peoples policy and engagement activities, and developing targets, measurements and KPIs for the Executive Team against the First Peoples Policy and Engagement Strategy
Who We Are Looking For
You will need to have experience in First Peoples policy and engagement in complex, multi-stakeholder environments, as well as possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, meticulous attention to detail, exceptional organisational abilities, self-motivation, and adaptability to changing work priorities. You are expected to work independently or as part of a team while responding flexibly to evolving work priorities.
You will also have:
- Degree-qualified as a minimum, preferably in a biodiversity or related field
- Demonstrated experience in contributing to the development and delivery of strategic policy, projects and initiatives will be highly regarded
- Understanding of cultural governance processes and cultural obligations
- Capacity to quickly understand and work within accountability requirements regarding financial and governance processes
