Job Description:
The Role:
- Provision of a comprehensive youth psychiatric service including:
- Assessment and treatment of young people with acute needs in a variety of settings including the Youth Hospital in the Home (HITH) service which enables youth to receive intensive short-term treatment and support in their home rather than an inpatient setting.
- Experience in clinical leadership and demonstrated commitment to a multidisciplinary service model.
- Demonstrated ability to convey psychiatric knowledge effectively to fellow staff, service providers and patients/clients.
- Maintain an adequate knowledge of major evidence-based practice research findings in clinical practice, and participate in appropriate formal continuing medical education, and actively support and engage in opportunities through the Centre for Mental Health Service Innovation (Tas), CAMHS and Statewide Mental Health Services.
- Understanding of the National and State Mental Health policy frameworks as they impact on the provision of clinical services.
- Contribute to the effective functioning of the child and adolescent community multidisciplinary mental health team through participation in clinical reviews and providing consultancy services for other team members.

The Team:
Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), as part of the ongoing reform initiatives and the development of youth mental health services, has received Tasmania State Government funding to trial a Hospital in the Home for young people in the North West region of Tasmania.
The Youth Hospital in the Home (Y-HITH) services will provide an appropriate alternative to hospital bed based services.

Details of Appointment:
Permanent full time, day worker (with on-call) position working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant

Salary:
Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1- Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 3 $163,005 - $247,768 per annum, pro rata + 10.5% superannuation
Please note that access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $234,726 -$247,768 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2 or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award
- Salary range is in accordance with Salaried Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2019
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Provision of a fully maintained private plated motor vehicle or (Delete previous for part time SMP) motor vehicle allowance of $25,758 per annum, pro rata
- Communication allowance of $1,948 per annum, pro rata
- Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $24,927 per annum, pro rata
- Relocation package
- other allowances as applicable
Position Features:
- Participate in an On Call Roster and undertake call back work
- Work outside normal hours and weekend work, which may include ward round as required
- Intrastate travel will be required
- Staff employed against this Statement of Duties as a Visiting Medical Practitioner will be employed in accordance with the Tasmanian Visiting Medical Practitioners (Public Sector) Agreement and remunerated accordingly
- Hospital in the Home (HiTH) services are highly mobile outreach teams providing treatment in the consumer’s home
Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:
- Specialist or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant specialty (Psychiatry)
- Current Working with Children Registration
Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:
- Current Driver’s Licence
- Supervisor’s Certificate or equivalent
- Certificate of Advanced Training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry; or
- Certificate of Advanced Training in Adult Psychiatry
