Medical Intern (Statewide) 2024

Salary
$75,315 per annum + 10.5% superannuation + access to salary packaging
Classification
Medical Practitioner Level 1 in accordance with the Salaried Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2019

Period of Employment
Fixed term full-time day work, working 76 hours per fortnight commencing 08 January 2024 until 12 January 2026. Please note the occupant will be required to work after-hours and weekend work.
Two-year appointments support the National implementation for prevocational medical training. Please note the two-year appointment includes flexibility across THS regions on completion of the post graduate year 1 training and progression to post graduate year 2 classification
Location
• Royal Hobart Hospital, includes rural rotations
• Launceston General Hospital, includes rural rotations
• North West Regional and Mersey Community Hospital, includes rural rotations
Duties
While under supervision, responsible for strengthening the health outcomes of both inpatients and outpatients by managing their day to day care in partnership with the patient, their family, and other health professionals.
Essential Requirements
Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer of any new criminal convictions and/or if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.
- Conditional registration with the Medical Board of Australia and is eligible for employment in a position normally occupied by an Intern
The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:
- Conviction checks in the following areas:
- crimes of violence
- sex related offences
- serious drug offences
- crimes involving dishonesty
- Identification check
- Disciplinary action in previous employment check
Desirable Requirements
- Current Driver’s Licence (Burnie, Latrobe and Rural locations only)
