Specialist Metallurgist
Work Location: Perth - Fortescue Centre & Bennett St - Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.
Roster: Monday to Friday
This would be an excellent opportunity for someone with strong site-based experience to add significant value to our Perth Based Strategic Planning Metallurgical function.
You will be joining a passionate, driven and very agile technical team who delve into all aspects of materials science, metallurgical engineering, ore processing performance and provide metallurgical product prediction to mine planning horizons i.e. LOM/5YP/2YP.
Key responsibilities include:
- Support development and optimisation of material tracking data systems
- Review short and long term OPF performance against plan assumptions/ regression predictions for current and future operations
- Assist teams with implementing standard procedures to ensure accuracy and integrity of measurements
- Analysis to investigate relationships between key metrics and material characteristics
- Support optimisation projects and liaise with stakeholders
- Understand priorities and orient changes to work plans with minimum guidance
- Self-starter and autonomous work ethic, although still asking for help when required
Qualifications and Experience:
- At least 4 years as a site-based Metallurgist (at least 2 years in Iron ore)
- Tertiary Qualification in Metallurgy/ Mineral processing
- Knowledge of further Process/ planning systems etc is an advantage
- Enthusiastic and ‘can-do’ mind set with ability to manage changing priorities
- Excellent communication skills with strong report writing and presentation skills, ability to clearly and concisely articulate knowledge sharing to leaders and reports with ease
