The role:

Provide an efficient specialised radiation engineering/IT service covering emergency breakdown repair and planned maintenance programs for highly specialised computer-controlled Radiation Therapy equipment and accessories.

Supervise external contractors working on the Radiation Therapy equipment to ensure that equipment is kept within specific local tolerances that ensure optimal performance.

Ensure compliance with Work Health and Safety legislation and Australian Standards.

Provide consultative advice to senior management relating to the ongoing assessment of current and future equipment and IT system requirements of the Clinic.

Position Features:

• Support is provided to the WP Holman Clinic, Royal Hobart Hospital.
• May be required to work outside normal working hours to meet specific needs or deadlines, or to be on call, on a regular basis

The WP Holman Clinic is part of the Cancer and Blood Services stream at the Royal Hobart Hospital, which provides an integrated radiation therapy, medical oncology and haematological service to Southern Tasmania. The department has two Varian linear accelerators, a Canon CT Simulator and a Gulmay Superficial Xray Unit.

Details of Appointment

Permanent, part time, day worker position, working 30.4 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant

Salary:

$101,705 - $115,272 per annum (pro rata) Our Employer 10.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

• Salary range is in accordance with Health and Human Services (Tasmanian State Service) Award

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

• Current relevant Electrical Practitioner’s Licence recognised by the Department of Justice, Tasmania
• Current Driver’s Licence

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

• Associate Diploma in Electrical Engineering of Diploma in Electrical Engineering sufficient to acquire an electrical licence level 1 or 2
• Experience working on computer controlled medical linear accelerators and willingness to complete one or more training courses offered by vendors
• Completion or substantial progress toward a tertiary qualification in computing

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:
