Senior Mechanical Engineer
Work Location: Iron Bridge Fixed Plant Processing Facility. Fortescue’s Iron Bridge project is located on the traditional lands of the Nyamal people.
Roster: 8/6 – Dayshift only
Reporting to the Iron Bridge Engineering Superintendent, this role will be responsible for supporting the operation of the fixed plant by providing technical support using initiatives and applying engineering techniques, data analysis, improvement projects and defect elimination for the operational Ore Processing Facility. The role also entails leading a small team of mechanical engineers to support their day-to-day work and performance.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Maintain focus on team objectives and provide technical/problem solving guidance to engineers and provide ad hoc engineering and reliability superintendent coverage for weekends
- Performance manage delegates and promote good team culture
- Liaison with relevant departments to provide technical solutions and manage the development and execution of operational and capital projects
- Complete Root Cause Analysis for plant downtime events
- Ensure correct application of Health & Safety standards including Change Management, and Monitor quality assurance of critical processes
- Achieve targets set for defined sections of area budgets
Qualifications and skills required:
- Minimum 5+ years fixed plant experience in an engineering and/or projects role with a Tertiary Qualification in Mechanical Engineering and Prior experience leading a team
- Mining experience in hard rock applications, and ideally prior experience with vibrating screens, centrifugal/positive displacement slurry pumps, magnetic separators, crushers, conveyors, thickeners and chutes.
- Strong conceptual thinking and analytical focus with excellent problem-solving skills and continual improvement focus and Great communication skills
- Knowledge of relevant Mines legislations and regulations, and Knowledge of computer management systems, including SAP
- Planning, organisational, budgeting, scheduling, and coordination skills
