Project Geologist \u2013 Resource Definition<\/strong><\/p>\n

Work Location: <\/strong>Christmas Creek - Fortescue\u2019s Christmas Creek mine is located on the traditional lands of the Nyiyaparli people.<\/p>\n

Roster: <\/strong>8D\/6R FIFO ex. Perth<\/p>\n

An opportunity currently exists for a Project Geologist to join the Resource Definition team at our Christmas Creek Operations. <\/p>\n

Key accountabilities will include:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n
• Provide leadership and be a role model for safety behaviours<\/li>\n
• Assay and geological data management, internal QAQC, data collection\/validation<\/li>\n
• Assists in implementing best practices for producing high quality geological models<\/li>\n
• Geological modelling and interpretation of drilling campaigns utilising geological, geochemical and geophysical data<\/li>\n
• Preparing accurate technical reports for internal purposes and delivering high quality geological models<\/li>\n
• Supports the implementation of improvement initiatives<\/li>\n
• Maintains a current knowledge of the database, modelling systems whilst making relevant recommendations<\/li>\n
• Support the Senior Resource Definition Geologist in meeting company objectives<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

  Qualifications and skills required:<\/strong><\/p>\n

  \n
  • Tertiary qualification in Geology, e.g. Bachelor or master\u2019s degree in Geology, Earth Sciences or a related science field<\/li>\n
  • Experience on a large mining operation with autonomous haulage system is essential<\/li>\n
  • Experience with RC or diamond drilling in Iron Ore is essential<\/li>\n
  • Rig management, geological logging & validation<\/li>\n
  • Solid understanding of QAQC processes<\/li>\n
  • Experience in geological modelling of the Marra Mamba Formation (Hamersley Group) and Pilbara Tertiary Detrital<\/li>\n
  • Quality systems knowledge \/ computer literacy (MS Office, Vulcan, ArcGIS, acQuire)<\/li>\n
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, leadership and interpersonal skills<\/li>\n
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills<\/li>\n
  • Effective project management, planning and time management skills<\/li>\n
  • Strong desire and drive for continuous improvement<\/li>\n
  • The ability to work with minimal supervision<\/li>\n
  • Must be eligible to work in Australia<\/li>\n
  • Class C manual WA driver\u2019s licence<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
