Job Description:
The Service
The Tasmanian Health Service – North West region encompasses two hospitals, the North West Regional Hospital (NWRH), in Burnie and the Mersey Community Hospital (MCH) in Latrobe. We are currently seeking applications for Registrars (Paediatrics) to work across the North West region.
The NWRH is a modern facility that provides acute care facilities for residents of the North West region of Tasmania. It is a University Teaching Hospital for the Rural Clinical School of the University of Tasmania.
Our registrars are actively involved in ward rounds and patient assessment and management and find they are well prepared for further registrar training opportunities.
The North-West Coast is a beautiful and accessible part of Tasmania with the opportunity for work life balance above what is afforded in larger cities.
The role:
The successful applicant will be responsible for the day-to-day management of inpatients (at the NWRH including neonates in the special care nursery and postnatal ward in the North West Private Hospital [NWPH]), and outpatients at the NWRH and MCH . The successful applicant is also required to attend to referrals from the emergency department across both sites and to attend deliveries in labour ward and theatre at the NWPH and perform after-hour oncall duties at the NWRH and NWPH. Additional responsibilities include teaching and supervision of junior staff and medical students, participation in the academic program and clinical governance activities.
Details of Appointment
Multiple Fixed Term full time day worker (with on-call) positions working 80 hours per fortnight commencing May 2023 until May 2024.

Salary: 97, 946 - $ 116, 260 per annum + 10.5% superannuation
You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
In addition to the annual salary a one-off up-front payment of between $10,000 and $12,000 pro rata (dependent upon qualifications and experience) will be paid upon commencement.
- Salary range is in accordance with Salaried Medical Practitioners Agreement 2019

Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:
- General or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia
- Current Working with Children Registration
