About the Role and Team

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Career Medical Officer - Psychiatry to join us in North-West Tasmania. You will be part of a multidisciplinary mental health service delivering high quality mental health care to the North-West region in accordance with Mental Health Service principles, National Mental Health Standards, Agency policies, legal requirements and relevant professional competencies.

Based in Devonport, this role provides a service to the North-West region of Tasmania. In contrast with the more well-known Hobart region, the North-West experiences abundant sunshine affordable housing and land market with opportunities to live in city, beachside or rural locations.

The North-West has the cleanest air in the world, fresh from the wild Southern Ocean, the North-West is home to one of the last remaining wildernesses - the Tarkine – Australia’s largest rainforest. Our staff enjoy hiking the Cradle Mountain region, lake fishing in the Central Highlands and riding the West-Coast mountain bike trails. When you’re craving for luxurious shopping, you can fly to Melbourne from Devonport in an hour or drive to the heritage city of Launceston in 90 minutes.

Details of Appointment

Permanent, full time, day worker (with on-call) position working 76 hours per fortnight commencing as soon as possible.

Salary:

A remuneration package comprising the Agreement base salary, relevant allowances and other entitlements will be negotiated with the successful applicant dependent on clinical experience and seniority.

You will also have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

  1. General or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia

  1. Current Driver’s Licence

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:

  3. serious drug offences
  4. crimes involving dishonesty
  1. Identification check
