Come and join our global Risk & Trading team as we look to embark on our biggest recruitment drive yet! Due to substantial growth, we are looking to hire 10+ Sports Traders this year where you will play a key role in supporting the expansion of FanDuel across America.
About Us
As part of the Flutter Group, FanDuel is the premier gaming destination and market leader in the United States. The company is based in New York with offices in Melbourne, California, New Jersey, Florida, Oregon and Scotland. 85% of FanDuel Group is owned by the big 6 US Sports (NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL, College Basketball and College Football) and we have the opportunity to create a market leading prospection on these sports.
The Role
Sports Traders at FanDuel are the people behind the odds that our customers bet on. We utilise stats, in-house models, industry news, and our opinions to help formulate what we believe are the most accurate odds, and then manage those odds throughout their lifecycle. This includes moving prices when breaking news hits or using our in-house models to move prices live during games. If you have a creative mind that will help, as identifying new and exciting opportunities to improve our already best-in-class experience for our customers will be a major part in this role.
Key responsibilities include:
- In time, you will be able to compile your own odds on a range of different markets using statistics and trends. For example, helping decide the price for certain players on the Chiefs to score the first touchdown or the first Yankees player to hit a home run.
- Looking at matches and player markets and compile odds based on a range of data
- Crunch numbers to identify trends post-event which will allow us to implement the best practices going forward.
- Collaboration with the wider FanDuel risk team to manage our liabilities and help identify customer patterns.
The FanDuel team in Melbourne adopt a flexible 5 day working week policy based on customer needs to ensure a great work-life balance for our staff. There is a requirement for weekend work, but shifts will generally fall between 8am – 6.30pm allowing you to still have your nights!
About You
If you have a high attention to detail, remain calm under pressure, can communicate effectively, and collaborate well within teams, then this could be the role for you. Putting our customers front of mind is the most important in this role, the rest we can teach you – so we are open to recent graduates!
However, we do ask that you have:
- An understanding of statistics and probability with a love for data and numbers
- Be proficient in excel and a genuine team player (if you love sports, even better!)
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in (mathematics, statistics, analytics, finance, accounting, etc) OR strong ability & interest in doing math-related problems would be HIGHLY regarded
- Knowledge of at least 2 major US sports (MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL, NCAAF, or NCAAB)
We don’t expect anyone to walk in the door and know everything at the start, so we take our training seriously and make sure that the successful candidate is well supported. This role is a hybrid position that has ability to work from home. At the start of your role, we require most days to be in the office to help with training and onboarding.
