About - The Melbourne School of Population and Global Health
The Melbourne School of Population and Global Health (MSPGH) is a respected leader in the field of public health education, research and knowledge exchange. MSPGH was established in 2001 as the first school of its kind in Australia with a vision to make a difference in the population and public health sphere - building on the substantial assets of our University to advance public health in communities nationally and internationally - with a strong focus on Indigenous peoples.
Since its inception, the School has grown rapidly in size, scope and reputation – demonstrated in the University of Melbourne ranking 12th globally* for public health - and consistently attracts leading academics and researchers who bring considerable skills, insights and expertise. In early 2023 the School will launch a new strategic plan articulating a renewed vision, purpose and direction for MSPGH.

About the Role
As Coordinator, a key focus of your role will be supporting and enabling the successful rollout and evaluation of the School’s exciting new strategy including key initiatives associated with its strategic priorities. Working closely with academic leaders and professional staff, the role will ensure activities are successfully implemented in an integrated manner which drives change and ensures improvement across the MSPGH.
Responsibilities include:
- Undertake a leading role enabling and ensuring the successful implementation, rollout and monitoring of the new MSPGH strategic plan.
- Working closely with academic staff leads, plan and implement nominated strategic initiatives in a timely manner, ensuring these are established successfully and structured to enable ongoing sustainability.
- Build strong links with academic and professional staff leaders across the School, Faculty and broader University to ensure effective and efficient implementation of School strategies.
- Review and plan resource requirements to support the ongoing implementation of strategic plan initiatives and strategies.
About You
You will be a highly effective, proactive and organised leader with a strong focus on enabling timely, efficient and effective implementation and monitoring of new strategies. You will have demonstrable expertise in project management, strategic and operational planning and performance measurement. Your excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to foster effective working relationships, influence, lead and negotiate with staff across all levels will be valuable to this role.
You will also have:
- A postgraduate degree, or equivalent qualifications and/or experience in a similar role in a large and complex organisation.
- Demonstrable expertise in project management, strategic and operational planning and performance measurement.
- Demonstrated experience in the planning, leading and managing implementation, development and review of initiatives and activities
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate staff teams through change, be adaptive to changing priorities, accepting of new ideas and willing to meet new challenges.
