Energy Operations Superintendent
Work Location: Solomon - Fortescue’s Solomon mine is located on the traditional lands of the Eastern Guruma and Yindjibarndi peoples.
Roster: 8/6 FIFO ex Perth
In this role you will provide technical leadership and knowledge in the operation and control of Fortescue's Solomon generation hub. The Energy Operations Superintendent is responsible for providing safe and reliable power through effective leadership and management of all maintenance activities of the power station to deliver the required generation to meet production requirements.
This is a high-profile role requiring strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills. Team leadership is one of the key fundamentals for the success of this role. We are looking for an experienced people leader, with sound understanding of the power generation industry and proven experience in power generation systems including Gas turbines and or Gas reciprocating engines.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide overall Leadership, guidance and work direction for the maintenance and operations teams.
- Engagement with maintenance engineering teams to drive capital projects from implementation to execution
- Ensuring budgets are managed within limits and in order of established priority and in compliance with Company Financial Policy.
- Responsible for the safe, reliable, efficient, and cost-effective operation of the power station.
- Strong focus on systems implementation, standardisation, and reporting through the work management process
- Oversee installation, operation, maintenance, and repair to ensure that generating units and equipment are maintained and functioning according to specifications.
- Technical leadership and support to the operations groups
Qualification and Experience:
- Strong leadership and ability to build key relationships that contribute to high-class business results.
- Electrical/ Mechanical trade certificate or tertiary qualification in electrical/ mechanical engineering
- 5+ years in a similar role with extensive experience with either Aero-derivative gas turbines or Gas reciprocating engines
- Strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills with experience managing a multidiscipline workforce
- Flexible, adaptable and works well under pressure in a fast-paced demanding environment.
- The successful candidate will need to have a good understanding of WHS Standards
- Demonstrated commitment to Fortescue’s values and achieving an incident and injury free environment.
- Strategic understanding of operation and maintenance of power plants.
