Industry Relations:

  • Build and maintain mutually beneficial relationships, facilitate communication and coordinate activities often acting in a public relations capacity.
  • Manage all communication with industry members and serve as their main point of contact with the Department.
  • Market the Department through lab tours, events, and presentations to diverse audiences.
  • Develop brochures, newsletters, social media programs, and other marketing materials to convey the Department’s value to industry.
  • Work closely with the education and research associate chairs to ensure that the goals of the department are coordinated, and that the industry program is integrated with these activities.
  • Organize and manage all aspects of the Annual Industry Meeting and other Industry specific events.
  • Develop and manage activities that will enhance innovation and entrepreneurship opportunities within the department.
  • Create and execute programs that enhance the engagement of industry members with students and faculty.
  • Coordinate and manage
  • Manage an accurate and up to date database, tracking all companies that have contact with ECE.
  • Track initiatives so we can report to sponsors and donors
  • Track research collaborations and coordinate with faculty to “pitch” companies for funding research
  • Make sure deliverables and deadlines are met when applicable
  • Travel to companies and coordinate visits in the Florida High Tec Corridor

Student Career Development:

  • Organizing industry project placements including managing student profiles, contracts and student data management, interview scheduling and feedback collation plus ongoing contact with employers’ post-employment.
  • Engaging with industry through events, networking, and communications to seek opportunities for student professional development opportunities/internships.
  • Manage and coordinate the ECE Career fair.
  • Survey of courses that industry requires or would like to see students taking
  • Reviewing and developing a range of workshops, networking events and other activities to achieve a high level of student and industry collaboration.
  • Develop strategies to expand employer base both on and off campus.
  • Establish, develop, and maintain appropriate relationships with industry and alumni to drive employment opportunities (incl. internships and projects).
  • Identify, develop, and deliver recruitment strategies targeting current ECE students for internships and projects in appropriate employment during their studies at UF.

Other duties as assigned:

  • Other projects or duties as required from time to time and deemed appropriate and necessary.
  • This position may require work to be carried out beyond standard business hours of 9am - 5pm and from time for travel and events.
Expected Salary:

$50,000 - $60,000; commensurate with qualifications and experience

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and one year of relevant experience.

Must have a valid FL driver's license.

  • Ability to plan, control, coordinate and manage activities with minimal supervision.
  • Team contributor with the ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrated excellent customer service skills, including cross cultural sensitivity, and a high level of demonstrated interpersonal skills.
