Position Title Mechanical Engineer
Work Location: Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.
Roster: Monday to Friday
12 month Fixed-Term Contract
Key responsibilities include:
- Scoping new projects and developing timelines for product development, prototype and delivery
- Advanced data collection including 3d scanning and measuring vehicle types to create artefacts for system design
- Mechanical fixing systems design for various vehicles and sensors
- Vibration and other FEA studies for design validation
- Power and communications system design including load calculations for DC power systems (experience with automotive power systems highly desirable)
- Working in a multi-disciplinary department solving complex problems and creating innovative designs for deploying high tech machines into hostile environments.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum 5+ years post university experience with exposure to mobile assets and vehicle electrical systems or similar. Exposure to the mining industry is advantageous. Exposure to project planning and delivery.
- Experience with systems specification through design and implementation highly regarded.
- Highly proficient in Solidworks for mechanical and electrical designs. Incredible attention to detail when producing and reviewing drawings and specification documents.
- Ability to prioritize and schedule delivery cycles in short time frames to meet development targets.
