Mine Projects Engineer
Work Location: Iron Bridge Fortescue’s Iron Bridge project is located on the traditional lands of the Nyamal people.
Roster: 4:3 (Monday – Friday)
We are looking for a motivated engineer to join our Iron Bridge operations as a Mine Projects Engineer. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new, large and deep pit greenfield operation. The role is a rare opportunity to shape the development of a major project, working an 8/6 or 4/3 roster on site at the Iron Bridge site.
The role would suit a civil or mining professional who is looking for a diverse, challenging and engaging role. Reporting to the Senior Planning Engineer, you will be involved all aspects of different upcoming project & improvement work on site including; project scoping, detailed design, project planning, engaging and aligning stakeholders across the business, detailed management of execution schedules, QAQC and project conformance.
The role requires project management skills, interpersonal skills, problem solving and teamwork, whilst also being empowered to work autonomously to achieve project objectives.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Produce and/or review designs for operational/project execution and create Project Scopes, Project Management Plans and work schedules. Support longer term planning with designs and design reviews
- Work collaboratively with other departments, drill & blast, operations and geotechnical teams on designs and projects
- Cross-train other mine planning functions as required
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders including geometallugy, heritage, environment, mine geology, mine operations, processing, and mine services
- Attend and meaningfully contribute to planning and operations meetings
- Contribute to processes, procedures, reporting and QAQC systems and ongoing site improvement initiatives
Qualifications and skills required:
- Good attitude to HSEC including hazard reporting, investigations and field interactions, and the ability to work effectively unsupervised, with a strong desire to innovate, problem solve and approach work with new ideas
- Analytical mindset with previous exposure to cost benefit/analysis and optimisation studies (Project Scoping, Project Management and executional management experience)
- Good report writing and effective communication skills, (Excellent verbal and written skills including technical writing)
- Previous experience in an open pit (preferably Hard Rock) mining
- Tertiary qualifications in a civil or mining related discipline or equivalent operational experience
- Intermediate level for CAD design software, i.e. Vulcan, Surpac etc, and Intermediate level for MS Office products including MS Excel, MS Word, Power BI, Power Automate and Power Apps, including Programming, especially python, C/C++ and VBA
