About the role
We have an immediate requirement for a Head of Compliance to assist with the implementation and embedding of our risk and compliance frameworks within the Betting Product & Data (BPD) Department in order to:
• Ensure the Company’s compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
• Effectively manage key operational risks and improve assurance
This role makes a significant contribution towards executing Sportsbet’s risk management and compliance strategy and operating model by performing an advisory and partnering role.
You will partner with senior leaders and stakeholders across BPD and Sportsbet to shift the dial on the risks that really matter while ensuring Sportsbet maintains its licence to operate.
Your commercial acumen and growth mindset places you well to provide independent opinion and recommendation in an energetic and engaging manner that will result in influencing Sportsbet’s operational performance.
Reporting to the General Manager of Risk & Trading and sitting on the BPD extended leadership team, you will be a key member of a high-profile function across Risk & Trading, Product Management and Data Science.
Key responsibilities include:
- Responsible for the implementation of a risk-based Risk and Compliance monitoring program.
- Assist in the risk assessment process ensuring that all risks and obligations are appropriately identified, assessed, reported and monitored
- Develop, maintain and update of BPD’s compliance within policies, procedures and controls and ensure alignment with the relevant regulations and the Company’s adherence with such policies and manuals.
- Act as key point of contact for breach & incident investigations and work with SMEs (e.g. Line 2 Risk, Legal) towards resolution, communication and alignment with Line 2
- Optimisation of processes and development of assurance for product deployment and the go-to-market process
- Drive and support effective management of ongoing Risk & Trading operational and strategic risks, with a focus on mitigating Price Assurance and Manual Process risks
- Provide training to employees on Risk and Compliance related matters, including internal policies and procedures, the application of guidelines and standards and relevant regulatory requirements, promoting and enhancing a strong company-wide compliance culture.
- Manage a team of up to three who look after BPD’s Risk profile and Compliance Obligations
- Develop a high performing Line 1 function and influence the BPD Department more broadly to reflect high awareness and embeddedness of Compliance
About You
We’re looking for someone with:
- Proactive, hands-on delivery style, including drafting and socialising risk and compliance materials
- Proactive relationship management and consultation / collaboration across key departmental stakeholders
- Learning orientation and proactive self-reflection and willingness to explore and trial new ways of working and delivery styles
- Energetic and engaging presentation style and written skills
- Ability to manage and deliver multiple priorities simultaneously and proactive upwards management regarding status, capacity and scheduling conflicts
- Understanding and practical application of contemporary enterprise risk management techniques
- Ability to understand and map out business processes and functions, operating models and business architectures to diagnose critical issues
- Demonstrated experience in operational risk management and control advisory
- Track record of preparing and delivering risk and compliance materials that influence senior stakeholders
- Solid experience in working across complex business environments and diverse stakeholders
