Senior Geotechnical Engineer - Studies <\/strong><\/p>\n

Work Location: <\/strong>Perth - Fortescue\u2019s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.<\/p>\n

Roster: <\/strong>Monday to Friday<\/p>\n

Fortescue is currently seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer with experience in geotechnical design and studies. Reporting to the Manager \u2013 Geotechnical Engineering & Closure you will draw upon your experience to deliver geotechnical guidance to the studies team and facilitate safe and value adding design.<\/p>\n

You will also be responsible for implementing best practice mining geotechnical engineering in alignment with regulatory and industry guidelines. The role will operate across a range of mine planning and development horizons including exploration and development.<\/p>\n

Key responsibilities include: <\/strong><\/p>\n

\n
• Definition, planning, budgeting, and execution of geotechnical work programs to support the studies team with the design of open pits and waste rock dumps<\/li>\n
• Ensure accurate and timely geotechnical diamond core logging data collection, validation, interpretation, and storage<\/li>\n
• Manage delivery of geotechnical studies and designs, including reporting for approvals and regulatory commitments<\/li>\n
• Opportunity to lead or undertake geotechnical modelling analysis and reporting<\/li>\n
• Assessing and communicating geotechnical risk in geotechnical recommendations<\/li>\n
• Maintain a collaborative relationship with other business units and external parties, contribute to knowledge building and awareness, influence decision making regarding geotechnical systems<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

  Qualifications and Experience: <\/strong><\/p>\n

  \n
  • A tertiary qualification in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering, Engineering geology, or similar is preferred<\/li>\n
  • Demonstrated experience in mining geotechnical engineering<\/li>\n
  • Experience in a range of geological, geotechnical and hydrogeological settings and across multiple commodities<\/li>\n
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills, with a demonstrated experience of communicating to a variety of stakeholders<\/li>\n
  • Strong team skills and willingness to travel for short periods<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
