Emergency and Critical Care Veterinary Service Technician I\/II (CARE)<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Example of Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:<\/p>\n

\u2022 Assisting with evaluations and rechecks
\u2022 Performing triage assessments
\u2022 General nursing case such as venipuncture, catheter placement, patient restraint, treatments, medication administration, and sample collection
\u2022 Basic anesthesia and sedation procedures including patient monitoring and recovery
\u2022 Participation in rounds with the clinicians and students
\u2022 Act as a liaison between the ICU technician assigned to the care of each patient and the ICU doctor
\u2022 Assist the clinician with the preparation of treatment sheets, lab submissions, radiology\/anesthesia and surgical requests, etc.
\u2022 Act as a point of contact for owners of hospitalized patients
\u2022 Facilitate patient visits
\u2022 Client education
\u2022 Act as a charge nurse ensuring appropriate charges are entered for inpatients<\/p>\n

$20-$30 per hour, salary based on credentialing and experience<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Emergency & Critical Care Veterinary Technician I:<\/strong><\/span> High school diploma or equivalent and one year of relevant experience <\/p>\n

Emergency & Critical Care Veterinary Technician II:<\/strong><\/span> Credentialed veterinary technician <\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Prefer applicants with 3-5 years of experience in emergency and\/or critical care medicine.<\/p>\n

Graduation from an accredited veterinary technology program and\/or certified veterinary technician or eligible to sit for the VTNE.<\/p>\n

Knowledge of animal care and nursing, especially critical care.<\/p>\n

Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and terminology.<\/p>\n

Knowledge of the equipment and materials used and their availability and applications.<\/p>\n

Ability to effectively maintain a working environment while in stressful situations.<\/p>\n

Ability to effectively communicate with employees of various levels and responsibilities.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
