Job Description:

This AI Training and Support Specialist serves as an intermediate-level position in Research Computing, a unit within UF Information Technology (UFIT), and will support the university’s success through service and operational excellence. The training and support specialist will be responsible for assisting in the development of AI training curricular materials, producing asynchronous training modules, and delivering synchronous training (primarily online). Additionally, this position will provide general systems administration services and coding consultation on AI-related projects in pursuit of advanced scientific, engineering, and scholarly research. This work will continue to build Research Computing’s AI training capacity, generating innovative and engaging content for diverse audiences and create open, accessible content for learners around the world.

Some key responsibilities and characteristics of this position are:

  • Work with instructional designers to develop hands-on tutorials for AI education, especially related to applications in agriculture
  • Work with video production staff to produce short presentations explaining and introducing a variety of AI topics
  • Develop engaging, hands-on coding exercises to teach AI topics to diverse learners
  • Conduct online and in-person training sessions
  • Develop assessments for AI training exercises to measure student learning
  • Provides guidance and support to users in setting up workflows for optimal use of the systems. Educate researchers on available training materials and events. Track, route, and resolve service requests received via phone calls, email, Cherwell, and Bugzilla. Analyze and define problems resulting in resolution or escalation as appropriate.

Benefits

Full-time TEAMS employees will accrue vacation leave at a rate of 6.769 hours biweekly/22 days annually and sick leave at a rate of 4 hours biweekly/13 days annually. In addition, employees are eligible for ten paid holidays each year.

Vacation accruing TEAMS employees are eligible for four personal leave days/32 hours per year, assuming full-time status, and are intended to give the flexibility to enable units to close from December 26 to 31 when possible, determined on a unit-by-unit basis.

Expected Salary:

$60,000 – $70,000; commensurate based on education and experience.
Minimum Requirements:

Associate’s degree and two years of relevant experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and four years of relevant experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Level 2 background check required.
Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess the following experience and skills:

  • Knowledge of Python, Tensorflow & Keras or PyTorch and basic AI fluency
  • Background in teaching or training, particularly for adult audiences and with technical material
  • Ability to explain complex concepts in a simple manner
  • Knowledge of Linux operating system and ability to conduct basic troubleshooting

This role will be based in one of our UF East Campus office and may include a hybrid schedule of 3 days in the office (Wednesday required), and 2 days remote.
