Job Description:

Tasmanian Health Service - North West (North West Regional Hospital, Burnie, and Mersey Community Hospital, Latrobe) has multiple opportunities for Resident Medical Officers.

The Role:

The Hospital:

The Tasmanian Health Service – North West Region encompasses two hospitals, the North West Regional Hospital in Burnie and the Mersey Community Hospital in Latrobe. We are currently seeking applications for Resident Medical Officers to work across both hospitals.

The Resident Medical Officer is responsible for the day to day management of private and public inpatients and outpatients within the Hospital (or rural facility). Provide after-hours emergency cover as determined by the relevant work unit.

The North-West Coast is a beautiful and accessible part of Tasmania with the opportunity for work life balance above what is afforded in larger cities.

Applicants who hold or are eligible for limited or provisional registration with the Medical Board of Australia are eligible to apply for these positions.

Details of Appointment

Multiple, fixed term, full time, shift-worker position working 76 hours per fortnight commencing as soon as possible until January 2025

Salary: 79,578 - $89,709 per annum + 10.5% superannuation + access to salary packaging

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

In addition to the annual salary a one-off up-front payment of $5,500 pro-rata will be paid upon commencement.

  1. General or unconditional registration with the Medical Board of Australia

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:

  1. Crimes of violence
  2. sex related offences
  3. serious drug offences
  4. crimes involving dishonesty
  1. Identification check
  2. Disciplinary action in previous employment check.
