The Registered Nurse:

• Strengthens health outcomes through the provision of safe quality, clinically appropriate nursing care in partnership with patients/clients, their families and other health professionals.

Neonatal & Paediatric Intensive Care Unit

Located at the Royal Hobart Hospital in K Block on Level 8 East. We are a 28 bed unit with 12 intensive care beds, including 4 paediatric intensive care beds, 8 neonatal intensive care beds, 3 high dependency beds and 13 special care nursery beds. We are a unique unit in that we care for infants up to the age of 14 years who require specialised intensive care.

The NPICU caters for a wide variety of patients including premature infants, babies and children with complex medical and surgical conditions.

The NPICU is the state's referral centre for Neonatal and Paediatric Intensive Care services.

The NPICU also operates the Neonatal and Paediatric Emergency Transport service covering all areas of Tasmania.

The NPICU has a philosophy based on family centred care and strongly believes in a multidisciplinary team approach.

Details of Appointment

Fixed Term, part time, shift-worker positions working 64 hours per fortnight, commencing July 2023 for approximately 12 months

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant

• Applicants should note that, for a period of six months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.

Salary: $69,835 to $96,428 pro-rata per annum + 10.5% superannuation + access to salary packaging

• Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service Agreement) 2019

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

• Post Graduate Allowance of up to 7.5% based on qualification type
• Professional Development Allowance of up to $500 per annum
• Access to the Grade 4 salary range $90,290 - $96,428 is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

1. Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
2. Current Working with Children Registration

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:

1. Conviction checks in the following areas:

1. Crimes of violence
2. sex related offences
3. serious drug offences
4. crimes involving dishonesty

3. Disciplinary action in previous employment check.
