Job Description:

Perform a variety of complex laboratory experiments in the realm of molecular biology, biochemistry and microbial physiology. Experiments involve the preparation of DNA, RNA, and protein; in silico DNA and protein analysis; enzyme assays; construction and physiological characterization of bacterial mutant strains; protein expression and purification; animal models (mice and rats).

Perform specialized surgical operations on laboratory animals for collection of specimens. Work closely with animal care staff and technicians for scheduling surgical procedures and post-operative care of animals.

Maintain, organize, and record laboratory stock reagents and experimental materials and assure compliance with Laboratory and University safety regulations.

Must be able to work independently with only occasional suggestions in modifying, varying or adapting standard laboratory procedures to meet special needs of research projects. Analyze and compile experimental data and make preliminary analyses to assist PI in presenting the data in grant proposals, reports, presentations, and manuscripts. Produce data figures, charts, tables, graphs, and summaries of experimental protocols.

Expected Salary:

$13.00-$18.00 Hourly

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in a Biological Science.

Preferred Qualifications: Have research experience in a molecular microbiology laboratory and previous experience working with laboratory animals.
