Job Description:
The role:
Under the direction of the Clinical Nurse Specialist, and in accordance with legal requirements and relevant professional competencies provide support services to Cape Barren Island Community Health Centre (CBICHC), by:
- Support and assist the CBICHC Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in the provision of health care to the Cape Barren Island community including engagement with local Aboriginal community members to improve and address the delivery of culturally appropriate healthcare
- Participating as an active and contributing member willing to enhance team operations and achieve health service goals
- Communicating effectively with CBICHC and other health staff regarding local matters, processes and operational tasks and assist with creating a culturally welcoming environment for Aboriginal community members.

Details of Appointment
Permanent part time, shift-worker position working 19 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant
- Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.
Salary: $58,899 - $61,381 pro rata per annum + 10.5% superannuation + access to salary packaging
You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
- Salary range is in accordance with Health and Human Services (Tasmanian State Service) Award/General Stream, Health Services Officers, Level 4
Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:
- Aboriginality - The Head of the State Service has determined that this is an Aboriginal Identified Position and that it will be filled in accordance with the Guidelines for Aboriginal Employment
- Current Driver’s Licence
Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:
- Holds or is working towards Certificate lll in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care or *equivalent
*Certificate III in Aged Carer Certificate lll in Community Services
The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:

- serious drug offences
