Title: Embedded Control Systems Engineer
Work location: Perth based (Hazelmere)
Roster: 5:2 Roster
In support of Fortescue’s strong focus on green energy and our carbon neutrality targets, one of our key initiatives will be in our Green Fleet projects whereby we will develop and test a range of technologies to power our mining fleet, rail locomotive and marine vessel.
Based out our new Hazelmere R&D facility and reporting to the Green Fleet Development Principal Embedded Systems, we are presently looking for an experienced Embedded Control Systems Engineer.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Responsible for embedded control systems software development and testings for the Green Fleet projects
- Work in the multidisciplinary engineering project teams to contribute successful delivery of the project
- Develop software requirements, specifications and control interface documentation
- Develop control systems software in Model-based design environment with Matlab/Simulink packages
- Develop test codes at component and system level testing in MIL, SIL and HIL to validate software functions and features
- Support and implement quality engineering processes (System-/D-FMEA, Functional Safety etc.)
- Troubleshoot software issues at test benches, test and field vehicles
- Manage software versioning and release
Qualifications and skills required:
- Bachelor of Software, Computer Science, Electronics or Mechatronics Engineering.
- 3+ years experience in embedded software and/or control systems development
- Experience with model-based software development such as Matlab/Simulink is highly advantageous
- Experience with product development in Rail industry is highly advantageous
- Experience with electric vehicle powertrain control is highly advantageous
- Experience with project management and software version control tools (i.e. Jira, Confluence, GitHub)
- Experience in automotive CAN communication and network management protocols (CAN J1939, CANOpen etc.)
- Experience with automotive software analysis and calibration tools (i.e. CANoe, CANape, etc)
- Proven ability to work with diverse stakeholders and in multidiscipline teams
- Strong, effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to learn fast and adapt to an environment with dynamic process and program requirements
