Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS)

We are seeking dynamic and passionate MST Supervisors to drive implementation of the MST Program in the North and North West regions of Tasmania, as part of our extensive service innovation.
MST is an innovative, evidence-based program that empowers young people involved in offending and antisocial behaviour and their families build the skills to achieve positive, long-term changes and improved life outcomes. We recently launched the MST Program in Hobart in late November, the first for Tasmania.
The MST Supervisors will have the leadership and clinical experience to manage and supervise a regional team of up to 4 Practitioners in delivering MST to young people with severe and complex mental health challenges and their families. They will be committed to CAMHS’s vision of providing quality, accessible, consumer-centred mental health care to some of Tasmania’ s most vulnerable children and young people.

The Role:
- Manage the planning, implementation, coordination and administration of MST interventions to families engaged in the MST Program as well as all quality assurance mechanisms of the MST model
- Provide weekly clinical group and administrative supervision to the MST team (comprising up to four MST Practitioners) to ensure adherence to the MST model and build Practitioner competency.
- Provide specialist advice and peer support in cases requiring advanced specialist practice, in accordance with discipline specific skills and abilities.
- Provide occasional direct case work as required to meet family and service needs.
- Provide services to consumers on a needs basis including out of hours and through participation in an on-call roster.

Position Features:
- Highly mobile, non-clinic based, with flexible hours of operation
- Participation in an oncall roster is a requirement
- Some intrastate travel is required
Details of Appointment:
Permanent, full time, day work (with on call), position working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing from as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant

Location:
Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services – North and North West
Base Salary: $116,616 to $124,147 per annum + 10.5% superannuation
- Please note that access to salaries beyond $120,908 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme
- Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2019
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Professional Development Allowance of up to $724 per annum for the ability to accrue fund up to five years
- Post graduate qualification salary advancement where applicable
Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:
- Registered with the Psychology Board of Australia, or
- Degree in Social Work giving eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
- Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration.
- Current Driver’s Licence.
Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:
- Post graduate qualifications in Clinical, Counselling, Forensic, Educational or Developmental Psychology, or
- Post graduate qualifications in Social Work with significant experience in therapeutic settings.
- Broad, expert knowledge of adolescent mental health issues including cognitive and behavioural therapy and family system treatment.
- Clinical experience and expertise related to child and adolescent mental health or Child Development.
- Knowledge of contemporary juvenile and criminal justice issues.
- Experience implementing evidence-based programs.
