Job Description:
Fortescue is now consistently producing +180 million tonnes of iron ore per year and has an exciting future ahead, establishing itself for future growth in a global market through innovation, product diversification and asset development.
Iron Bridge is Fortescue’s US$2.6 billion project, set to deliver 22mtpa of high grade 67% Fe magnetite concentrate product. Located 145km by road south of Port Hedland, the mine will deliver an innovative process design and industry-leading energy efficient operation.

Work Location: Iron Bridge - Fortescue’s Iron Bridge project is located on the traditional lands of the Nyamal people.
Roster: 4:3 – (Monday to Thursday) – Enjoy a long weekend every week with friends and family
Summary of role
We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Superintendent Metallurgical Performance, for a full-time site-based opportunity. This role will report to the Technical Processing Manager on a family friendly 4:3 roster from Perth. This role will also be expected to work a 5:2 Monday to Friday roster in Perth from time to time, to ensure continuity with our Strategic Planning Teams, and the wider business.
You will be joining a passionate, driven technical team who are delve into all aspects of materials science, metallurgical engineering, ore processing performance and future planning.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Monthly Ore Processing Facility reconciliation and review the short and long term OPF performance against plan assumptions/ regression predictions.
- Assist site with implementing standard procedures to ensure accuracy and integrity of measurements
- Analysis to investigate relationships between key metrics and material characteristics
- Design and release infrastructure designs for operation(s) to optimize the associated resources and maximise the value of the mining business
- Measure adherence to infrastructure designs and provide guidance to mining personnel
- Liaise with mining personnel in the office and in the field to ensure adherence to mining schedules and produce detailed mining instructions
- Must be capable of understanding design standards, procedures and mine physicals, and be able to measure adherence to infrastructure designs and provide guidance to mining personnel
- Must be capable of leading and managing a high performance team or direct and indirect reports
Qualifications and skills required:
- At least 6 years’ experience in a Metallurgy role (ideally of which at least 3 years should be Iron ore and a mix of site experience)
- Tertiary Qualification in Metallurgy/ Mineral processing or similar related
- Excellent communication both verbal and written with strong analytics skills
- Effectively communicate with a wide range of stakeholders with varying technical knowledge
- Computer proficiency (Excel, MS Office)
- Team orientation and strong ability to take initiatives towards continuous improvement
