Federal Work Study - Greenhouse Maintenance (Wilmot Botanical Gardens)
Job Description:

The Wilmot Botanical Gardens is now accepting applications for a part-time student garden assistant in the Wilmot Gardens greenhouse. This position is focused on greenhouse maintenance of the production area. Maintenance tasks will include keeping the greenhouse clean and organized. Plant care will include watering, fertilizing, and other things as needed. Horticultural experience is helpful but not required.

Job duties will include:

• Keeping the greenhouse floor clean
• Keeping greenhouse bench areas clean
• Keeping the storage area organized and clean
• Helping to track inventory
• Cleaning glass and knee walls as needed
• Washing pots and other greenhouse containers
• Helping to maintain exterior planting beds adjacent to the greenhouse as needed
• Watering and other plant care as needed (instruction will be provided)
• Occasional maintenance of greenhouse environmental controls (instruction will be provided)
• Performing other tasks related to maintaining the greenhouse as needed

This position is for the Fall 2022 semester, but may extend into future semesters. This is a part-time position offering 15-20 hours per week.
Expected Salary:

$10.00 per hour
Minimum Requirements:

This position is open to all students who are eligible to work on campus and will be employed through Federal Work-Study (FWS) and must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average. Registered students are employed on a part-time basis, up to 20 hours per week. A Federal Work-Study award letter for the Fall 2022 semester is required and must be uploaded electronically to be considered for this position.
Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to those with gardening or horticultural backgrounds.
