Salary:£44,000 - £67,000 depending on skills and experience + car/cash allowance + annual bonus

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time, 37 hours | Flexible Working Options Available

About the Department

Transmission operates under licence as Scottish Hydro Electric (SHE) Transmission plc, responsible for the transmission of electricity in the north of Scotland. We own and maintain the 132kV, 275kV and 400kV electricity transmission network in our licence area. Our network comprises of underground cables, overhead wooden poles, steel towers and electricity substations, and it extends over a quarter of the UK land mass across some of its most challenging terrain.

What is the Role?

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Regional Development Project Manager to manage and co-ordinate the development of all large capital projects, including substation, overhead line and cable projects ranging in value from £10m to £2bn, across two regions within the SHE Transmission territory.

You’ll be responsible for:

• Reporting to the Head of Development, you will take overall leadership in the development of the significant project works in these regions

• Managing a team of development project managers running the development of all large and/or complex projects in the regions,

• Identifying and planning funding and ensuring projects remain within budget throughout the development process

• Work closely for and with the Transmission Management Team to ensure projects are developed and designed in line with the Transmission Business Plan and required regulatory outputs.

• Overseeing the management of programmes in line with contractual and regulatory and the application of Large Capital Projects Governance to the project, ensuring all Gate Deliverables are in place

• Maintaining safety, health, environmental and quality performance and standards across all projects

• Ensuring thorough preparation for the construction phase of the project and overseeing a detailed handover to the Delivery Team

• Undertaking detailed resource planning to ensure projects, both current and future are adequately resourced

• Represent the Transmission business and projects across the SSE business and externally to a wide range of stakeholders.

• Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory and internal regulations, processes and governance

• Build and maintain productive and enduring relationships with Contractors, Stakeholders, Communities and the public to support the sustainable delivery of the projects that you are responsible for

What do I need?

To be considered for this position, you should have:

• Experience managing the development of infrastructure projects through the optioneering stages of a project.

• Previous experience of managing and reporting on a significant annual budget of circa £50m plus would be deemed beneficial.

• You will be an experienced team manager proven to excel within a matrix management environment who can demonstrate strong leadership skills to drive forward a large programme of works.

• Knowledge of system planning processes and strategic optioneering for transmission infrastructure would be an advantage but not essential.

• Ideally you will have a relevant engineering or project management degree qualification or experience of managing large complex projects.

• Experience of operating within a regulatory environment would be advantageous.

• Knowledge of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015, Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and other key relevant Health, Safety and Environmental legislation is deemed essential.

• Knowledge of and the ability to challenge timescales on project programmes will be beneficial for the role.

• Understanding and have experience of the reporting and management requirements that come with a portfolio of projects of the values listed above.

• A positive project oriented attitude with an ability to problem solve, deliver to timescales and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
